The EMA Treadmill is a specialist rehabilitation treadmill used within our clinic to support walking practice and gait rehabilitation. It can be used with or without a body-weight support harness, allowing individuals to walk safely while receiving the level of support they need. The harness system can help reduce the amount of body weight going through the legs, making walking practice more accessible and less tiring for those who require additional support. It also allows your therapist to provide hands-on support and facilitation during walking practice when needed.

The treadmill works alongside the EzyGain programme, which includes a range of interactive games, visual environments, and therapy activities. These features help make physiotherapy sessions engaging and motivating while supporting walking, balance, coordination, and proprioception

The EMA Treadmill can be used with a wide range of clients, from young children through to older adults, and programmes can be tailored to suit individual goals and abilities.

The treadmill was designed for rehabilitation and for use within physiotherapy sessions and this is clear by the range of features available

Key features of the EMA Treadmill

  • Variable walking speeds — the treadmill can operate at very slow speeds for those who need extra time and support or can go up to quicker speeds
  • Backward walking mode — the treadmill can move in reverse to challenge balance, strengthen different muscle groups, and encourage motor planning and coordination
  • Gait analysis technology — specialist software analyses walking patterns, including left and right symmetry, helping therapists assess gait and monitor improvements over time
  • Performance tracking — the treadmill records therapy data and progression, allowing therapists to monitor changes and provide feedback throughout rehabilitation
  • Accessibility features — an attachable ramp allows wheelchair users to access the treadmill safely and comfortably. The optional body weight harness provides safety and support during walking practice and can fully support body weight for individuals requiring increased assistance
  • Interactive games— the EzyGain programme has a wide range of games meaning your physio sessions can be even more fun and you can be working on your balance and reactions without even realising.

How we use the EMA Treadmill in physiotherapy

The EMA Treadmill is designed specifically for rehabilitation and physiotherapy use. It allows therapists to create highly personalised walking practice sessions that support strength, endurance, balance, coordination, and confidence with movement. By combining supported walking with interactive feedback and therapy-based activities, sessions can be both effective and enjoyable while helping clients work towards their individual mobility goals.
