Positive Movement

Obstical Course

Positive Movement is a specialist exercise class designed for adults living with neurological conditions or symptoms that affect movement, balance, and coordination. This includes individuals with Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke survivors, as well as adults experiencing general difficulties with balance, stability, or mobility.

The class provides a supportive, welcoming environment where participants can safely work on improving their physical abilities at their own pace, while also enjoying the social benefits of exercising alongside others on a similar journey.

What the class offers

Positive Movement is designed to improve overall function, confidence, and quality of life through structured, low-impact exercise. Sessions focus on:

  • Improving balance and stability
  • Increasing muscle strength and endurance
  • Enhancing coordination and body control
  • Supporting mobility and functional movement
  • Building confidence in everyday activities

Each class is carefully structured to be accessible, safe, and adaptable, ensuring that everyone can participate regardless of ability level. This also provides the environment to allow for more of a challenge to those that need it to help push them towards their goals.

Low-impact, high-benefit exercise

All exercises are low impact making them suitable for a wide range of abilities. Sessions typically include a mix of:

  • Strength-based exercises to support functional movement
  • Balance training to reduce falls risk and improve stability
  • Mobility work to maintain and improve range of movement
  • Gentle coordination tasks to support everyday activities
  • Confidence-building movement practice in a safe setting

The emphasis is always on progress, not perfection, encouraging each participant to work within their own ability while gradually building strength and confidence over time. All parts of the session can be progressed or made easier to suit the individual.

Why choose Positive Movement?

As a neurological physiotherapy team, we work regularly with these conditions and are deeply committed to helping individuals stay active, independent, and engaged in the activities they love. Our aim is to provide accessible, affordable, specialist rehabilitation in a supportive group setting that complements ongoing therapy or acts as a valuable stand-alone service.

We believe that movement should be something to enjoy, not something to fear or avoid, and we work hard to create a positive, empowering space for everyone who attends.
