Intensive Physiotherapy Blocks

At Positive Steps, we offer intensive physiotherapy blocks at our clinic. These programmes provide focused, high-frequency rehabilitation over a short period of time. Typically, an intensive block consists of 3–5 sessions per week over one or two weeks, although this can be fully tailored to meet your individual needs.

These short blocks of regular, goal-focused physiotherapy sessions are designed to build strength, maximise function, and help you progress towards your personal goals.

Intensive physiotherapy blocks are particularly effective because they allow for a high level of repetition, which supports motor learning. Evidence shows that intensive rehabilitation programmes can lead to significant improvements in motor skills.

To help you achieve the best possible outcomes, sessions draw on the team’s combined expertise and may vary in structure, equipment, and treatment approaches to maximise benefit.

Who Can Benefit from an Intensive Physiotherapy

Intensive blocks may be especially beneficial for individuals who are:

Close to achieving a specific goal
Recovering post-surgery
Following an intervention such as Botox
Feeling that their progress has plateaued
Looking to make the most of a quieter period

Whether you are an existing client, currently receiving physiotherapy elsewhere and interested in trying an intensive block, or have not had physiotherapy before, we can work with you to design a programme that suits your needs and goals.

Why Positive Steps?

Our Intensive Physiotherapy Programme is designed to help your child reach their full potential through personalised, goal-focused therapy delivered by an experienced and dedicated team.

What makes us different is our holistic approach. We understand that progress is about more than just therapy sessions, which is why we are committed to supporting both your child and your family throughout your journey. We take the time to get to know you, listen to your concerns, and provide guidance, encouragement, and practical advice every step of the way.

We also believe in building a supportive community. Alongside our therapy programmes, we regularly organise coffee mornings, family fun days, and other events that are open to everyone. These opportunities allow families to connect, share experiences, and access ongoing support. As we get to know you through your intensive programme, we can help you access relevant activities and services that may benefit your child and family in the future.

Our clinic provides an excellent environment for intensive physiotherapy, with a wide range of specialist equipment designed to maximise engagement, motivation, and outcomes. We work hard to make sessions enjoyable and rewarding while ensuring every activity contributes towards your child's individual goals.

Above all, we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where families feel heard, valued, and empowered. We celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, and work in partnership with you to help your child make meaningful progress and gain confidence in their abilities.

How long are the sessions?

Our sessions usually run between 45 minutes and an hour. We will base this on the child and if they are needing a little bit more time to settle and rest.

Can I do more than one week of a programme?

Absolutely! We can offer more weeks of intensives either together or with a slight gap between. Discuss this with us and we can make a plan of input.

Is this appropriate for adults also?

Yes, although we have made the programme was designed with children in mind we have tailored this to adults before. Adults would benefit just as much from this more frequent tailored input. Just get in touch if you have any questions.

Do I need to be having physio regularly to have an intensive package?

No, we understand that not everyone is having regular input and so that does not matter when it comes to accessing the intensive package. Whether you have weekly physio or have not had physio in a long time we will still assess and review your goals to work towards.

Which Therapists will be at the sessions?

Each intensive programme will be led by one of our Physiotherapists. That physiotherapist may not be the same for all your sessions and you may see other members of the team including our brilliant Physiotherapy Assistants. This means that you will get to benefit from more of a mix of expertise and techniques. If we feel your child needs two members of staff we will discuss this with you. Any changes in staffing will be reflected in pricing.
