Hydrotherapy FAQs

question marks on craft paper

Here are a list of frequently asked questions for our Hydro service:

1. Who is Hydrotherapy for?
Our Hydrotherapy sessions are perfect for individuals who have long-standing conditions that impact on their mobility and movement. Hydrotherapy is also brilliant for anyone recovering from injury or trauma, who are comfortable with entering water, with support and full supervision. It is also ideal for children as it is a fun environment that allows us to get them working without them realising.

2. How much does it cost?
Our sessions are bookable in blocks of six. Price can be discussed directly with Lorna.

3. Where is it based?
Our Hydrotherapy sessions are based in the specialised Hydrotherapy pool at Newfriars College in Stoke on Trent

4. How is Hydrotherapy beneficial?
Hydrotherapy is beneficial in a vast number of ways. Hydrotherapy provides an ideal warm and relaxing environment and a perfect opportunity for rehabilitation. Water allows freedom of movement by supporting your weight, which enables individuals to vary and expand their movement in comfort. The water can also be used to provide resistance to movement and help strengthen muscles and improve stability and balance.

5. Is there a need for any special equipment?
We will talk you through any specific requirements on enquiry.

6. How long are sessions?
Approx. 1 hour allowing for time to change either side, with approx. 30 minutes in the pool

7. Is there a minimum age for sessions?
No

8. Can I book a one-off or a trial session?
Not at present but please feel free to contact us to discuss

9. Do I, or my loved one need to be able to swim to take part?
You do not need to be able to swim to take part in our Hydrotherapy sessions. We provide hands-on support during our fully supervised Hydrotherapy sessions.

10. Are there changing facilities on site?
Yes, we are very lucky – the swimming pool that we use have fully accessible changing facilities.

Although Physio is very tiring I do feel a lot better afterwards and it helps to have a Physio that I can have a laugh with and that I can talk to. I feel it is very beneficial.

Lorna makes the hard work of Physio fun. She has children of her own and relates well to my 7 year old boy. He has made good progress since she started working with him.
