Louise Hudson is a highly experienced Therapy Assistant at Positive Steps Physiotherapy, bringing over 35 years of experience supporting children, young people and adults with disabilities. She is a compassionate, dedicated member of the team who is passionate about helping people achieve their goals while ensuring every therapy session is enjoyable, meaningful and person-centred.
Louise has spent her career supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including those arising from birth and acquired injuries. This extensive experience has given her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and their families, allowing her to provide therapy with genuine empathy, patience and respect.
As a Therapy Assistant, Louise delivers physiotherapy programmes under the guidance of our physiotherapists, ensuring sessions are engaging, motivating and tailored to each person's individual needs. Her warm personality, excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships help clients feel confident and supported throughout their rehabilitation journey.
Louise also brings invaluable lived experience as a parent carer to an incredible young woman with Rett syndrome. This personal perspective gives her a unique appreciation of the daily realities families experience and reinforces her commitment to providing holistic, family-centred care.
Louise works with both children and adults across a wide variety of conditions and disabilities. She particularly enjoys the diversity of her role and believes that successful therapy is about seeing the bigger picture—not just improving physical function, but supporting confidence, independence, participation and quality of life.
She is especially passionate about supporting parents and carers. Louise plays an important role in delivering our Parent Pathway, helping families feel understood, informed and empowered as they navigate life with a child with additional needs into adulthood. She is also committed to educating the next generation of healthcare professionals, ensuring every student who completes a placement with Positive Steps Physiotherapy gains an understanding of the Parent Pathway and the invaluable experiences of parents, carers and siblings.
One of Louise's greatest strengths is her remarkable ability to connect with every individual she works with. She quickly adapts her approach to suit each person's personality, interests and motivations, meeting them in their own world to help them succeed. Whether she is imagining goats chasing someone up the stairs to encourage movement, singing favourite songs to inspire participation, or accompanying a client on countryside walks over stiles to achieve real-life goals, Louise brings creativity, flexibility and genuine joy to every therapy session.
Louise's combination of professional experience, personal insight and unwavering commitment to person-centred care makes her an invaluable member of the Positive Steps Physiotherapy team.
