Louise Hudson one of our fabulous Physiotherapy Asssitants shares a real success story with us, sit back, relax and have a read....
'Over my personal and working life, I have encountered many children and adults who have often faced so many difficulties with determination, humour and positivity. I just want to take a minute to share with you one such client.
After being in hospital following a fall, the client had lost confidence and become reliant on a hoist for transferring and on a wheelchair to get around her home. Carers came in throughout the day to cater for all her needs.
We met the client 12 months after she returned home; the aim of our therapy programme was to work towards independence as well as working on her confidence and belief un her own abilities.
It was small steps.....but positive steps and now 12 months later.....
This determined lady can self-transfer from wheelchair to bed, will sit out of bed for meals and has walked with her walking frame into the kitchen with just supervision.
This may seem small steps to some, but it is an amazing achievement for this client. It had been 2 whole years since she last walked into her kitchen! We were there to help and support with standing practise, strengthening & balance exercises, learning to transfer safely, gentle encouragement but this amazing lady's determination was definitely the main ingredient.
We have discussed the next steps and set goals to achieve over the coming months. Will keep you all posted.
It's a true privilege to be part of someone's steps towards Independence!'

Although Physio is very tiring I do feel a lot better afterwards and it helps to have a Physio that I can have a laugh with and that I can talk to. I feel it is very beneficial.
Lorna makes the hard work of Physio fun. She has children of her own and relates well to my 7 year old boy. He has made good progress since she started working with him.
Thank you Lorna, I cannot recommend Positive Steps Physiotherapy highly enough to support anyone needing specialist physiotherapy help.
Lorna has been my son's Physio for over 3 years. He has a complex medical history and I can not underestimate the impact that Lorna has had on his life and ours as a family.
Lorna has been my Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist for a few years now. Her cheerful encouragement plus broad knowledge and experience helps me to make, 'positive steps,' on my own every day.
Positive Steps Physiotherapy offers an initial free telephone consultation where we will find out more about you and get you started on your rehabilitation journey with us.
